Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Prepare work space for colour processing
   • Determine appropriate colour process from supplied pre-exposed film in consultation with relevant personnel as required
   • Select work space that is appropriately equipped for colour processing tasks
   • Set up equipment and materials required for processing work
   • Follow enterprise codes of practice and workplace safety procedures in relation to process selected
2. Prepare to make colour prints
   • Process film according to manufacturer specifications
   • Cut, sleeve or file negatives or transparencies
   • Make proof sheets or work prints as required
   • Evaluate and select options to manipulate and output photographic prints to meet required photographic concepts
3. Make colour prints
   • Apply manipulation and output options to selected negatives or transparencies
   • Test and review results of manipulation and output options
   • Seek feedback on work in progress from relevant personnel as required
   • Make adjustments and refine work until optimum result is achieved
   • Collaborate with others as required to meet timelines
   • Document work process according to workplace procedures
   • Safely store processed film for future use according to workplace procedures
4. Complete post-processing activities
   • Clean and restore work environment to its original state and dispose of chemicals safely
   • Care for equipment according to manufacturer instructions
   • Report damage to equipment to relevant personnel according to workplace procedures
   • Store equipment according to workplace procedures

Performance Evidence

Evidence of the ability to:

organise darkroom work space for safe and efficient production of colour photographs

handle pre-exposed film correctly and make proof sheets or work prints

apply appropriate wet darkroom techniques to produce colour prints suitable for display or reproduction

check and store equipment according to workplace requirements.

To complete the unit requirements safely and effectively, the individual must:
